Just Start Here

Start Here

This is where you are, wherever you are.  That is the only starting point for your path going forward.   It is really all that any of us have as our starting point.  How did you get here?  Our paths to this point may vary.  We attended some academic training, participate in CE, have a range (or a few) of clinical or other experiences.  But all of these make it a great starting place.  Now, decide what is next, which direction to take.  How you may influence others in areas important to you.

The primary ingredient in making your first steps ahead is a genuine desired to do something unique, make a contribution, grow personally.  Don't bother striking out if you lack the curiosity and interest in making things better.  You will just end up being busy like the ants Thoreau wrote about*, not knowing what you are busy about. Instead, find a rock to sit on as you think this through**.   We each have the ability to choose a path, to develop added skills, and to lead.  From here out, never stop learning, trying new opportunities, or reflecting on what inspires you.

Warning: It may be scary to move ahead towards new discovery and outcomes.  Take a few baby steps until you find your stride in making your way ahead.

*It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?  (Henry David Thoreau)

**It is necessary . . for a man to go away by himself. . to sit on a rock. ..and ask, "Who am I, where have I been, and where am I going"?  (Carl Sanburg)
