What Do You Know?

What is your "knowledge niche"?  Clinical content, leadership content, scientific content, etc. I believe most NPs (and other clinicians) have some nuggets of knowledge that would benefit others.  Have you ever considered becoming a "thought leader"?  Do you know what a thought leader is?

Thought leaders are people who others turn to for their knowledge on certain subject matter. They can share their ideas, viewpoint, and knowledge with others, usually in a unique perspective that instills understanding. Their focus helps to advance understanding of (often) complex information, helping to influence the work of others.  Their content is often innovative, at least in helping others find unique ways to apply it.

Are you seen as the "go-to" person on given topics?  When do others reach out to you for clarification of existing or illustration of new knowledge? What unique stories or examples do you use in helping others understand complex content and apply it in practical situations?

If you are a trusted resource on any area, you are already developing a reputation as a thought leader, albeit in a limited location.

Leaders are not bosses, managers, supervisors, etc.  Thought leadership is a great way one person can influence many by sharing their unique insights, practical frameworks, and thoughtful applications of difficult knowledge.  NPs can demonstrate thought leadership for other other clinicians and/or patients.

Before I provide more details, consider the title in its question form.  What do you know?
