Introduction to Leadership

Objectives:

  • •Discuss leadership as an individual attribute
  • •Consider literature in contemplating leadership
  • •Identify skills/tools that support leadership growth

This program is designated for 1.0 contact hours of NP CE by the INPE, an AANP Approved Provider of NP continuing education (Provider 130325).  The course is designed to help learners understand and recognize opportunities for individual leadership, and the skills needed to build leadership.  Faculty is Dr. Mary Jo Goolsby. Valid through 10/28/2023.  This program was planned in accordance with AANP CE Standards and Policies and AANP Commercial Support Standards.

Leadership Package: Writing for Publication, Professional Networking and Mentorship

This package bundles 3 important topics, described separately below.  Combined, they are accredited for 3.5 contact hours.  INPE is accredited by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as an Approved Provider of NP continuing education (Provider 130325). Course valid through 6/30/2023.  This program was planned in accordance with AANP CE Standards and Policies and AANP Commercial Support Standards. $45. Mentorship as Leadership

This program provides an overview of the value gained by those participating in a mentorship, whether as mentor or mentee. It describes the roles of those participating in a formal mentorship, as well as provides resource for learners interested in establishing a mentorship program. This component accredited for 1.3 contact hour.

Course Objectives: After completing this course, learners will be able to better: 1. Differentiate the mentor role from others such as teacher, preceptor, coach 2. Describe characteristics of successful mentors and mentees 3. Discuss the recommended sequence of a formal mentorship 4. Identify at least one area in which you could benefit from a mentor or benefit another person by serving as a mentor 5. Discuss advantages of various forms of mentorship.

Writing for Publication

This program is intended to inspire learners to seek opportunities to disseminate their knowledge and expertise through professional writing for publication. This is a form of leadership in action that can be accomplished regardless of position or career stage. This component accredited for 1.6 contact hour.

Course Objectives:  After completing this course, learners should be able to better: 1) Express increased confidence in writing for publication 2) Discuss knowledge of typical outlets and common manuscript requirements for NP publications 3) Submit manuscript as individual or member of collaborative writing and/or editing team.

Professional Networking

Networking is a critical skill in expanding one’s circle of influence and resources.  There are boundless reasons for NPs to develop a well-balanced professional network and the reasons change over ones career. This component is accredited for 0.6 contact hours.

Course objectives: After completing the course you should be better able to: Discuss guidance from the literature on professional networking; Describe three categories of recommendations on networking; Identify at least two steps that can be taken to expand your network.
